Dear Parents
and Caregivers,
Re:
Gospel Graffiti Workshop
On Monday, September 23, we are very
fortunate to be spending part of the day with internationally renowned painter
and break dancer Jeff Goring. Jeff will
be facilitating a Gospel Graffiti project and possibly some break dancing with four
of our classrooms. Students will choose
a word related to the Bible and then spray paint it onto wood, canvas, or
cardboard. In his workshop, Jeff makes
an important distinction between legal and illegal graffiti.
Students are asked to bring canvas,
wood, or cardboard to paint on. The
surface should be about 60cm x 60cm (2 feet x 2 feet). Ideally it should not be much smaller as it
would make it more difficult to paint.
Scrap plywood or a previously used canvas would work well. Canvases can be purchased from Dollarama but
it is not required. Bringing the material with a light coat of primer on it
would be beneficial if possible.
What to bring
-paint
clothes and an old jacket as we will be painting outside
-plastic
gloves (optional – we will have some paint thinner to clean hands if needed)
-Canvas, wood,
or cardboard
