This
week is Education Week in Saskatchewan. The theme this year is: Learning Success
Today....Leading Success Tomorrow. As part of our
Education Week activities we are learning about St. Kateri Tekakwitha, who is being canonized on
October 21. St. Kateri will be the
first aboriginal saint ordained in North America. Kateri is one of the patron saints of ecology and
nature. Kateri taught children to make
crosses from sticks that she found. They were then laid in various places in the woods as a reminder to pray. Our students have collected
twigs and made their own crosses. Tonight they are bringing them home and placing them somewhere in the community.
